A 90-foot tree believed to be 100 years old was knocked down by strong winds Thursday night in Bergen County.
Fortunately,
the family of four who occupied the home, along with their dog, were able to
exit safely.
The
tree is also to blame for knocking down utility wires and damaging cars on
Glenwood Avenue.
“My
parents built that house in 37 so I’ve known that tree. It’s an old friend - so
It’s sad,” says family member Georgene Betterbed. “But the good side is that no
one got hurt. My neighbor's front facade is taken away - and their cars,
but no one - not even the dogs got hurt."

12 is told PSEG arrived on the scene early and handled the downed wires.
