The NYPD is increasing its recruiting efforts in the Bronx.
The department held a recruiting event this morning at Lehman College.
Police Commissioner William Bratton said back in March that there are currently 6,000 fewer officers than in 2001. With a new class graduating in July, there will be an increase in officers hitting the city streets, but the push to hire more continues.
If interested in taking the police officer's exam, you must be at least 17 1/2 years of age, but no older than 35 on the day of your exam. There is a $40 application fee, and you must also be a U.S. citizen on or before the date you are hired.
The NYPD announces where it will hold recruiting events on its Facebook page. You can also go to the website to have a live one-on-one chat with a recruiter.
