Two female police officers in an NYPD cruiser were involved in a multiple-vehicle crash Wednesday at the intersection of Tremont and Morris Park avenues.
Witnesses say the police cruiser drove out of a Mobile gas station, turned on its sirens and headed east on E. Tremont Avenue. Before the cruiser could drive through the intersection, a Volkswagen van smashed into it, witnesses say. The police vehicle then collided with a BMW SUV and a Honda minivan.
Four people, including the two officers, were taken to hospitals. The intersection is now reopened for traffic.
