UPDATE March 6, 2020: "RuPaul's Drag Race" has announced that Joey Gugliemelli (aka Sherry Pie) has been disqualified from the show, but her episodes were already filmed and will still air. This comes after a Buzzfeed investigation into catfishing claims made against Gugliemelli.

The new season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” debuted Friday, and five of this season’s performers hail from the Big Apple.
Jackie Cox, Brita, Jan, Nicky Doll and Sherry Pie all call New York City home.
Brita says she's proud to be the first Tongan/Polynesian/Pacific Islander on "Drag Race."
Sherry Pie calls herself the “glamp queen” of Season 12.
Jan describes herself on Instagram as “the girl next door plus so much more.”
Jackie Cox’s bio on the show’s webpage dubs her the “Persian princess of drag.”
“Drag Race” is celebrating Nicky Doll, who relocated from Paris to New York City, as the show’s first French queen.
“Drag Race” airs on VH-1 and is in its 12th season. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Nicki Minaj are among the celebrity judges who will guest on the show this season.
