An October nor'easter was buffeting the state with whipping winds and rain Saturday, and many coastal towns were enduring heavy flooding.
It was a wet and windy day in Middlesex County Saturday, but emergency officials say there were very few calls for help. News 12 reporter Lara Rolo was on State Street where the worst flooding in Perth Amboy was located.
Areas like Manasquan, Brielle and Point Pleasant also saw floodwaters surge into the streets.
Office of Emergency Management officials said the surge in Manasquan reached high and moderate levels.
Gusts were reported between 25 and 30 mph on Brielle Road in Manasquan. Several feet of water covered all of the three ways to leave the Manasquan beach area, including Ocean Road.
Damage due to high winds was reported in Belmar and Oakhurst, and a tree fell on a home in Neptune.
Officials say there have been around two dozen water rescues.
