The second day of Amtrak’s track work at New York Penn Station ended without any major delays for rail riders.
The work prompted New Jersey Transit to make some service changes, prompting some riders to have to find alternate means into New York from New Jersey.
But riders tell News 12 New Jersey that the morning and evening commutes went fairly smoothly.
Amtrak officials say they are speeding up repairs with a goal of being done in time for the morning commute on Sept. 4, the day after Labor Day weekend. They say that is when ridership will be at its peak.
