NJDEP: South Brunswick residents advised to avoid Heathcote Brook due to Harmful Algal Bloom

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection issued a health advisory for Heathcote Brook in South Brunswick. Police say NJDEP tested the water in the brook and found it has Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB).
The bacteria bloom in question found in the brook can be harmful to people and animals. Officials advise residents avoid contact with any water from that stream.
The South Brunswick Health Department posted advisory signs in the area of Heathcote Brook by Mapleton Preserve to alert residents.
