Jackson’s Holbrook Little League team was set to play its “win-or-go-home” game against the team from Connecticut Tuesday, but Mother Nature had other plans.
Severe weather first caused the game to be delayed, but then officials made the decision o postpone the game completely until 11 a.m. Wednesday.
Friends and family of the Jackson boys gathered at the Knights of Columbus headquarters in Jackson to watch the game and support the team. The team’s field is right next to the KOC, which has become a “team headquarters” for the fans to gather.
“Just coming together to watch and cheer together – it’s a very exciting feeling,” says supporter Michelle Ox.
Holbrook previously lost to the Connecticut team with a score of 7-6. New Jersey has won two games since and was to play Connecticut in the final round.
“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It’s absolutely fantastic that they got this far,” says Jeff Ox. “It goes to show you how well-coached these kids are and how great of players they are.”
The winner of Wednesday’s game will move on to the next round. The losers will have to go back home.
