A New Jersey Transit ticket agent is facing charges for allegedly forging rail tickets and selling them for cash.
Officials say that John Davey was placing “No Cash” signs on NJ Transit ticket vending machines. He then allegedly forced cash-paying customers to come to this New Brunswick Station tickets counter and sold them fake tickets.
Authorities say Davey had $1,285 and 101 forged tickets when he was arrested. They say the tickets were printed on authentic agency ticket stock he allegedly had taken from the train station.
Additional ticket stock and a thermal printer were allegedly found at Davey's home.
A spokesperson for the agency says “NJ Transit takes these issues very seriously and we are putting additional security measures in place regarding the issuance of ticket stock.”
Davey was charged with official misconduct, theft and forgery.
