NJ Transit Strike Day 3: NJ Transit readies Park & Ride buses ahead of Monday commute

Those looking to get to work can catch a ride from the four Park & Ride options available during peak weekday hours.

NJ Transit is readying more buses ahead of the Monday morning commute amid the third day of the rail strike.
It put together a contingency plan to help accommodate commuters who usually ride the rails into the city.
NJ Transit train engineers went on strike in a dispute over wages, impacting about 350,000 commuters who rely on trains across the Garden State.
NJ Transit and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) are meeting today with the National Mediation Board in hopes of coming to an agreement. Both sides agreed on Saturday that progress has been made.

Here is a breakdown of all the options available.
Service from the Secaucus Junction Bus Plaza to the Port Authority will start at 6 a.m. and go until 10 a.m. Outbound, service resumes from 3 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. The ride is estimated to take 45 minutes and cost $8, round trip.
If you plan to take a bus from Woodbridge Center Mall, you'll get dropped off at the Harrison Path Station to take the train into the city. Parking and boarding is near Sears. Service starts at 6 a.m. and goes till 10 a.m., and is expected to take 45 minutes.
Outbound service is 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and costs $14, round-trip – that doesn't include the price of your PATH ticket.
Bus Service from PNC Bank Arts Center to Port Authority starts at 5 a.m. and goes until 8 a.m. and is operated by Academy Bus.
Be sure to purchase your ticket through the Academy bus. Outbound, service resumes from 3:30- 7:30 p.m., and it will cost $48 round-trip. The trip is estimated to take an hour and 30 minutes.
If you are planning to take a bus from Hamilton Rail Station to Newark Penn Station PATH – a round-trip will cost $24. That doesn't include the ticket for the PATH train. The ride is estimated to take an 1 hour and 25 minutes. Northbound buses will leave 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. and southbound buses will leave from the corner of Market and Mulberry streets in front of the Prudential Center from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
NJ Transit rail tickets and passes will be cross honored on all NJ Transit bus and light rail lines. If you can't work from home, plan your trip in advance. Make sure to get there early as the service is on a first-come, first-served basis. Have someone drop you off/pick you up. Parking at some of the locations will fill up. Or if you can, try and carpool with a coworker.
Engineers hit the picket line on Friday for the first rail strike since 1983. About 450 engineers and trainees remain on strike with hopes of getting better pay.
