There may be rip current warnings posted at Shore beaches this weekend, but many surfers will probably head out on the water anyway.
Surfers say they often take a risk in poor conditions in order to catch the perfect wave. Surfer Mike Williams said he almost drowned a couple of weeks ago, but he got right back up on the board.
?It?s a way of life, there?s no motor involved,? Williams said. ?You catch a wave and it?s just a beautiful thing.?
Other surfers say being out on the water is almost therapeutic.
Lifeguards do advise all swimmers and surfers to stay out of the water in rough conditions, despite the risks surfers take.
