Phil Kwon's nomination to the state Supreme Court was rejected by the Senate Judiciary Committee this evening.
Kwon's bid to become the first Asian-American on the court came up short by a partisan vote of 7-6. Much of the day's questioning was centered on Kwon's family's business. The liquor store owned by his mother and wife had previously settled a lawsuit with the federal government over improper cash deposits. Kwon says he wasn't involved and never used his pull as a U.S. attorney to help.
Bruce Harris's nomination was not heard by the committee today and will be rescheduled at Gov. Chris Christie's request.
