The New Jersey State Senate unanimously approved a bill that would ensure the right to displayed the American flag over New Jersey highways.
The measure would allow flags on a bridge or overpass owned by the Turnpike Authority or South Jersey Transportation Authority with their permission.
It also develops a permit process to ensure flags are displayed and maintained properly.
The bill comes after the Turnpike Authority had American flags removed in September, saying they distracted drivers.
