The weather in New Jersey on Monday felt more like May than early March.

Temperatures reached the low to mid-70s in parts of New Jersey under sunny skies.

The nicer weather had some state residents extending their weekend and heading to the Jersey Shore.

"Well, we basically came out because the sun was hot and shining through our window and, you know, we've been cooped up for so long,” says Betty DeAlmedia, of Brick.

"We've been sitting in the house a lot with this kid because we had him in October, so we're like, ‘Why not go to the aquarium for the day?’ Just excited to make memories with him, it's definitely a big difference to come out here and just like being in the sun, it feels so good,” says beachgoer Lisa Viola.

This winter saw multiple snowstorms, a blizzard and below-zero temperatures. Many told News 12 they were excited to get out into the sun and the warmth.

The sunny and warm weather is expected to continue into Tuesday.
