NJ Red Cross volunteers deploy to Louisiana to help with flood relief
American Red Cross volunteers from New Jersey are among those deploying to Louisiana to help with flood relief efforts.
The agency is calling this their largest effort since Superstorm Sandy.
Volunteers say that they are returning the favor since many volunteers from Louisiana came to the Garden State to help after Sandy.
At least six people have been killed and more than 20,000 have had to be rescued since Friday in some of the worst flooding Louisiana has ever seen.
As of Monday, the rain had mostly stopped, but rivers and creeks in many areas were still dangerously bloated and new places were getting hit by flooding.
More than 11,000 people were staying in shelters.
The Associated Press wire services contributed to this report.
