A Bridgewater resident has been identified as one of the soldiers injured in Thursday's deadly shooting at Fort Hood.
Alan Carroll, 20, was shot four times in the rampage that killed 13 and injured 30 others. His hometown community says they are still in shock over what happened and are hoping for a fast recovery.
Carroll grew up in Bridgewater and was a volunteer fireman at the North Branch Fire Department in Branchburg since he was 15. After finding out about Carroll, local firefighters held a vigil throughout the night until he came out of surgery.
Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan is accused in the shooting. He was also wounded and is under guard in a hospital.
