NJ fugitive, a Mexican national, sentenced on illegal reentry, sex offender charges
A Mexican national who formerly lived in New Jersey was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for illegal reentry and failing to register as a sex offender, the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee announced Thursday.
Teodoso Gonzalez-Guzman, 40, pleaded guilty to one count of illegal reentry and one count of failure to register as a sex offender.
According to court records, Gonzalez-Guzman had prior convictions for unlawful possession of a weapon in a domestic violence case and a sexual offense involving a 6-year-old girl.
He was deported for the fourth time after serving a 746-day sentence for the sexual offense, officials said.
In March 2025, authorities confirmed he had been living for about a year in Lindenwold in violation of a court order, authorities said.
He later fled to Tennessee, where he was arrested by the Middle Tennessee Joint Fugitive Task Force on May 1, 2025, on an outstanding New Jersey warrant, according to the U.S. attorney.
Authorities said Gonzalez-Guzman admitted he had lived in the Nashville area for about a month before his arrest and had never registered as a sex offender, despite Tennessee law requiring registration within 48 hours of residing, working or attending school in the state.
