Like so many others, Pete’s Barber Shop has been closed for three months, but finally, Agliata is back doing what he does best. Caputo was the first appointment he had this morning. Every 30 minutes today, he’ll have another customer.
“I’ve been going to grocery stores with the mask, taking precautions, washing your hands and you know I think if you wash your hands, stay with the mask, you’re going to be all right,” says Agliata.
Like a lot of business owners, he’s too young to retire and was still paying rent while closed. So, whether the Average Joe makes an appointment or one of the superstars, Agliata says he’s going to keep on cutting.
Agliata is aware of the guidelines laid out by Gov. Phil Murphy, and that has all been part of his preparation.
"I'll have a thermometer when you walk in,” says Agliata. “I will have to ask you some questions. Also, I'll have throwaway capes, I'll have a lot of combs, everything has to be sterilized."
Masks must be worn.

Only one customer is allowed in the shop at a time.
Tony works alone at the time, so it's fortunate he didn't have to furlough any employees.
