A pickup truck driver was hospitalized with minor injuries after a crash that knocked down a utility pole, caused power outages and shut down part of Main Street in Bloomingdale.

The crash happened Tuesday morning on Main Street near Leary Avenue.

Police say the pickup truck driver admitted to falling asleep behind the wheel.

Authorities say the pickup truck struck a utility pole, knocking it down along with several transformers. The vehicle then crossed Main Street and collided with a box truck.

The crash caused power outages at nearby homes and businesses.

Main Street between Union Avenue and Reeve Avenue remains closed as utility crews work to repair the damage.
