News 12’s Carissa Lawson was honored at the NAACP Metuchen/Edison area branch’s Juneteenth celebration Saturday.

Lawson received the Ida B. Well-Barnett Journalism Award at the celebration.

Dance performances were also streamed at the event, but the awards section was held at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center.

Lawson was also the emcee of the event.
