News 12’s Brian Donohue takes issue with mascot names that don’t reflect the town

The Pascack Valley Regional High School District voted this week to change two of its school mascots. The Pascack Valley High School Indians will become the Panthers and the Pascack Hills Cowboys will become the Broncos.
News 12 New Jersey’s Brian Donohue took issue with these name changes – not for political reasons, but because panthers and broncos and mascots like them are not found in New Jersey.
Donohue says that the best mascot names celebrate the local history or local character of a town and that they should reflect that.
