Newark is mourning after a shooting killed two people, including a 10-year-old boy on Saturday.

Officials say five people were shot around 7 p.m. near Chancelor Avenue and Leslie Street.

A 10-year-old boy and a 21-year-old woman died at the hospital. Three others — an 11-year-old boy, a 19-year-old man and a 60-year-old man — remain in stable condition.

"We mourn the loss of one of our students and the woman who was killed, and we continue to pray for the recovery of those who were wounded, which includes another one of our students." said Mr. León, Superintendent.

A memorial for the victims is growing at the scene.

The Essex County prosecutor’s office is expected to provide an update today, and the sheriff’s office is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to a conviction.
