A Newark police officer is recovering in the hospital Sunday after being hit by a car.
It happened at Foundry and Roanoke streets around 4:30 a.m.
The 37-year-old officer was ticketing a vehicle when the car hit and then dragged him.
He has serious injuries, but is expected to survive.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office and the Newark Police Department are investigating the incident.
