Police say a woman walking in the area was approached by the suspect who attempted to engage her in conversation before grabbing her from behind and ripping her pants and underwear.

Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect in a sexual assault that occurred in Newark on Court Street and University Avenue on Friday, Jan. 13.
Police say a woman walking in the area was approached by the suspect who attempted to engage her in conversation before grabbing her from behind and ripping her pants and underwear.

The suspect is described as an 18-year-old Hispanic male, 5 feet, 6 inches tall, and having a slim build. He was wearing black pants, a black hooded sweatshirt with red flannel inside, and yellow Crocs.
