"Not in my city," is what Newark Mayor Cory Booker shouted to a would-be thief as he chased him down on a city street. Booker has said from day one that making Newark streets safer is one of his goals for the city. On Thursday, he took matters into his own hands by helping to nab a robber just outside City Hall. Police say the suspect grabbed a bag of money from a customer at a Broad Street bank. Booker spotted the man fleeing and a police officer with his gun drawn. That's when Booker said he gave chase after the robber and his bodyguards helped tackle the suspect. The suspect, 45-year-old Al-Tariq Rachman, is in police custody. Booker says that's one more bad guy off the streets and says there's more to come.
