Bayonne police say a man from Newark swiped money from church collection boxes last month.

Raymond Gorczycki, 50, stole $200 to $300 from St. John Paul II Parish in Bayonne, formerly Mt. Carmel, on July 23, according to police. Gorczycki allegedly damaged the boxes to gain entry and remove the cash.

Gorczycki was arrested Wednesday. He was charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief and parole violation .

Authorities say Gorczycki is also charged with stealing from a car near Lexington Avenue on Saturday, in violation of his parole.
