Newark Mayor Ras Baraka has signed an executive order to extend some of the city’s COVID-19 mandates.
Baraka’s order extends the vaccine mandate for another two weeks. This means that people will need to provide proof of vaccination before entering certain businesses like restaurants and bars.
The order also extends the indoor mask mandate through March 4.
“The data shows that we are heading in the right direction…We need to continue wearing our masks and getting vaccinated, as another form of protection, to remain on this path of progress,” the mayor said in a statement.
Businesses affected by the executive order must display a sign letting the public know about the vaccination and mask requirements.
