A massive redevelopment project is happening at Newark Liberty International Airport.
The project is said to be the largest design-build project in New Jersey history.
Eventually, Terminal A will become Terminal 1.
The $2.7 billion project will have 33 gates, a pedestrian bridge and a dining and entertainment area.
Terminal A is the oldest building at the airport, opening back in 1973.
"Terminal A, which was really designed for nine million passengers, saw at least 11 million annual last year, so if you were traveling through Terminal A, you probably felt the crowds," says Catherine Cronin, EWR Redevelopment Program Director.
The entire airport saw more than 43 million passengers last year, a record.
The goal is to have Terminal 1 open by 2021.
