The Hydrus rollercoaster made its long-awaited debut at Seaside Heights on Saturday.
The 57-second ride replaces the Jet Star rollercoaster that was destroyed five years ago during Superstorm Sandy.
The ride carries passengers at 45 mph with a 72-foot vertical drop.
"It's a pretty smooth ride, but your stomach does go up a little when your dropping," says rider Anthony Thomas. "It's a pretty steep drop."
Construction on the roller coaster started earlier this year and passed state inspection on Thursday.
The Hydrus rollercoaster costs $10 per ride.
