It's the first day of school for many kids around the Garden State today.

In Newark, 90 students are beginning a new concept program that calls for extended hours in school.

The program at the Eagle Academy calls for 9-hour days and four hours of school on Saturday.

The school has three locations in New York City, but this is the first one in New Jersey.
