Early voting records are already being set across New Jersey. One of those counties seeing a huge turnout is Monmouth County.
The line wrapped around the outside corner of the Monmouth County Library branch in Manalapan on Tuesday morning.
By mid-afternoon, the wait time decreased to about 30 minutes. News 12 spoke with first-time early voters who were excited about taking part in the election process.
"This is my third time trying to come here. Every time I've seen a line of people so far and I work across the street on the other side of this, so I can drive by several times a day,” said Steve Weiss, of Manalapan. “There's nobody right now but this is my third attempt to try and do this. It's good to see.”
"It's super easy. Just get outside, go to your nearest place to vote. There's a lot in Monmouth County. Get online, wait like 20 minutes out of your day and vote for the people, vote for America," said Ava Caruso, of Freehold.
Associated Press elections researcher Ryan Dubicki tells News 12 that nearly 40,000 early in-person votes were cast as of Monday, blowing past the old record of 30,000 for the entire nine-day period in 2022.
He says the state is on track to see more than 1 million early voters by Sunday's closing time if these busy trends continue.
