A state senator is pushing for the state to give more power to local leaders in the distribution of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Sen. Paul Sarlo, who is also the mayor of Wood-Ridge, wants to streamline the process for the Johnson & Johnson by having municipalities themselves be responsible for the single dose vaccine's rollout.
"Put the onus on these communities, on these mayors, to deliver to their residents,” Sarlo says. “They know how to run a city or a community."
The senator says he's already received support from fellow mayors on his idea, and that he is in close enough contact with the governor to hopefully get his approval on the idea.
