Residents in Keansburg and Matawan have been told that they may not have power restored until next Tuesday.

They say they are trying to make the best of the situation by using generators.

"I had to take off from work to tend to the little one," says Matthew Galan of Keansburg. "It was just a bad scene all together."

Residents in surrounding places like Union Beach, Hazlet and Keyport tell News 12 they have not experienced any major power issues.

Ocean County officials are also calling on power companies to reimburse people for food that residents had in their refrigerators during the outage.
"Many residents stocked up on food because of the pandemic," says Ocean County Freeholder Joseph H. Vicari. "Now all the money spent is basically in the garbage and so many elderly people on fixed incomes do not have the money to replace it. We need the utility companies to step up and help out."
