Polling places around New
Jersey have opened for Primary Election Day, and residents can cast their vote in-person at a
polling place by putting their ballot in one of the many drop boxes, or by
mailing it in as long as it is postmarked by 8 p.m.
Voters will get the chance to
determine the Democrats and Republicans on the ticket for several key races in the
November elections, including governor.
Gov. Phil Murphy is running unopposed in his bid for reelection on the Democratic side.
The field of Republicans is a little more crowded. Vying for the
nomination are former state Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli, former Franklin Mayor
Brian Levine, pastor Phil Rizzo, and engineer Hirsh Singh.
All 120 seats in the state Legislature are also up for grabs.
There is also plenty of
local primary elections happening today, with some towns and counties
determining candidates for mayor, council, sheriff and commissioners.
