New Jersey police departments hold events for National Night Out. Here’s where to celebrate

National Night Out (Aug. 1) is an annual event meant to build a safer community - all by partnering with local police departments.  
If you’re looking to get more involved and attend a National Night Out on Tuesday, here are some local options: 
Belleville: The township will celebrate with music, food and a lot of fun activities. Municipal Stadium on Passaic Avenue from 5 to 9 p.m.
East Orange: The city council and department of public safety will celebrate Tuesday at the East Orange High School campus from 4 to 8 p.m. at East Orange Campus Field, 344 Prospect St.  
Montclair: Celebrations will take place between South Park and Church streets from 5 to 8 p.m. Live DJ, giveaways and attendees can even dunk a cop.
Newark: The city will host their night out event where attendees can enjoy food, music, giveaways and other fun activities for both children and adults at West Side Park, 17th Avenue and South 17th Street, from 2 to 8 p.m.  
New Milford: Artists will paint live themed designs on benches and more fun activities will be available at the police department on 930 River Road. Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
Piscataway: A celebration will take place behind the YMCA building on Stockton Street from 5 to 9 p.m.
Rutgers University: The campus will hold its first-ever National Night Out at The Yard, 40 College Ave. Enjoy live music, food and movie viewings. Also, get to meet members of the police department. The event starts at 6 p.m. No registration is needed.
