Former Englishtown Police Chief Peter Cooke has been sentenced for third-degree computer theft and conspiracy to commit shoplifting.
Authorities say an investigation revealed that he improperly used a law enforcement database to search information about two individuals.
Cooke was also accused of helping a co-conspirator steal from a local grocery store while on administrative leave.
