A major effort is happening in New Jersey to help those devastated by Florence.

A number of local organizations, including the Monmouth County SPCA, are putting together efforts to get people and their pets help. 

The Monmouth County SPCA has moved 20 dogs so far to their shelter from shelters in North and South Carolina.

The dogs were transported by St. Hubert's and all are up for adoption. 

The shelter says they hope to bring 35 more dogs on their own this upcoming week for adoption. Due to some roadways being closed from storm damage, that isn't possible to do right now.

The facilities manager at the shelter says they need donations of food, cleaning supplies, drinking water, medications and more. 

Members of the shelter rented a 26-foot box truck for the trip down to the Carolinas and are hoping to have it full by the time they head down.

Two dogs have been adopted from the shelter.
