A New Jersey native is facing charges – accused of a drunk driving crash that killed a 38-year-old woman on her wedding day in South Carolina.
Authorities say that on April 28 Samantha and Aric Hutchinson were riding in a golf cart leaving their wedding reception in Folly Beach. They say that's when a Toyota Camry traveling 65 mph in a 35-mph zone rammed into the back of the cart.
Samantha Hutchinson was killed, and her husband was seriously injured. Two other people also riding in the cart were hurt.
Police arrested Jamie Lee Komoroski at the scene. She was charged with one count of reckless homicide and three counts of felony DUI resulting in great bodily harm. Authorities say that according to toxicology reports, Komoroski’s blood alcohol content was 0.261 – more than three times the legal limit.

Two lawyers from New Jersey will represent Komoroski in court. They are former Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni and former federal Prosecutor Nathan S. Williams. Gramiccioni wrote in a statement, “We cannot fathom what the families are going through and offer our deepest sympathies. We simply ask that there not be a rush to judgment. Our court system is founded upon principles of justice and mercy and that is where all facts will come to light.”
A GoFundMe has been set up to help pay for Samantha Hutchinson’s funeral and Aric Hutchinson’s medical costs.
Aric Hutchinson’s mother wrote in a post that her son has had two reconstructive surgeries and numerous broken bones. He also has a brain injury and is home recovering.
She wrote, “I was handed Aric's wedding ring in a plastic bag at the hospital, five hours after Sam placed it on his finger and they read each other their vows. Aric has lost the love of his life."
Komoroski is from Clinton, New Jersey and graduated from North Hunterdon High School in 2015. She attended Coastal Carolina University and graduated in 2020.
