A New Jersey diner that's been open for 70 years will soon close. 

For over 70 years, The Egg Platter Diner has stood in Paterson. Since 1974, the Dermatis Family has owned and operated the establishment.  

But on Tuesday, family members announced on the diner’s Facebook page that it will officially be closing its doors on May 31.

Since the diner has been a landmark for over 70 years in Paterson, family members said it will be donated to the Paterson Museum.

According to the Facebook post, the reason for the closure is an impasse reached by the family and the owners of the land on which the diner stands. 

The Dermatis family’s parents immigrated from Greece in the early 70s, buying the diner. Their children now run it and have decided it's time to move on.

Some good news, though.

The children said they hope to rebuild the Egg Platter Diner in a yet to be determined new location.
