The New Jersey Devils and the Devils Youth Foundation teamed up with Make-A-Wish New Jersey and Fanatics this weekend to make three young hockey fans’ dreams come true at the Prudential Center.
Fifteen-year-old Natalie, 12-year-old Giovanni, and 19-year-old Darby each received an unforgettable two-day experience that included a behind-the-scenes look at Devils practice, meet-and-greets with players, personalized jerseys, and exclusive access during Saturday’s home game.
The weekend kicked off Friday at the RWJBarnabas Health Hockey House, where the three were treated to personalized gifts in the Devils locker room, lunch with team alumni, and a shopping spree courtesy of Fanatics.
On game day, they watched warm-ups from the bench, took part in the High Five Tunnel, rode the Zamboni, and even toured the MSG TV Truck.
“It’s also surreal. I can’t believe it. It’s just unbelievable. I’m actually very surprised I got to be able to do this,” said Natalie, who plays hockey in Minnesota and is currently battling cancer.
Giovanni, who lives with a gastrointestinal disorder and has been a lifelong Devils fan, said meeting his favorite players was something he’ll never forget.
“Greatest experience ever...I’ll remember this moment for my whole life. And I’m really thankful to be here,” he said.
Darby, who lives with a heart condition, joined in the wish weekend as part of the team’s ongoing effort to bring hope and joy to children and families who are facing critical illnesses.
Make-A-Wish New Jersey and the Devils Youth Foundation said the event reflects their shared mission to create meaningful, once-in-a-lifetime moments that inspire strength and happiness.
