Every lifeguard has a story. Maybe it's the tale of that one
dramatic, adrenaline-pumping rescue. Or the heartbreaking tragedy of pulling
someone from the water just bit too late.
Those stories are now collected in a new book by a
photographer known for chronicling the lives of everyday people down at the
Jersey Shore.
"Sand, Sea and Rescue - Lifeguards of the Jersey
Shore" by Gregory Andrus is dedicated to the memory of two lifeguards
killed last summer.
And it gathers into one place a collection of photos and
stories that illustrate the spirit and selflessness of those who save scores of
lives every summer.
On today's Brian's Positively New Jersey, Andrus explains
how his own life struggles gave rise to his determination to tell the stories
of Jersey Shore lifeguards.
