Bergen County has opened a new place for child victims of crimes to feel safe.
Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced on Tuesday a new Child Advocacy Center inside of the prosecutor's office.
The center honors Rosemarie D'Alessandro - a lifelong child advocate. It is named after D’Dessandro’s daughter Joan who was killed 48 years ago.
“In April 1973, 7-year-old Joan D’Alessandro was abducted and murdered in Hillside. A 26-year-old high school chemistry teacher who lived three doors away later pled guilty to murder,” Musella said.
Rosemarie D'Alessandro spent almost 30 years committed to bringing just to child victims and their families.
