Some New Jersey lawmakers have proposed a bill that would pay tribute to fallen police officers, firefighters and EMTs.
Under the bill, friends and family would get permission from the NJ Department of Transportation to build permanent roadside memorials for first responders killed on the roads while on duty. The bill is named for Mount Arlington Police Officer Joseph Wargo, who was killed in a crash on Interstate 80 in Roxbury in 2012.
"Patrolman Joseph Wargo's Law" is currently passing through the New Jersey State Assembly. If approved, it will head to Gov. Chris Christie's office to be signed.
