The northbound express lanes on the Garden State Parkway have reopened after two SUVs caught fire in an accident.
State police Sgt. Jeff Flynn says the accident happened about 8:15 a.m. Tuesday in Holmdel when a Ford Escape and a BMW SUV struck each other. Flynn says there were no serious injuries.
There is no word on how many people were traveling in the vehicles. Flynn says the accident appeared to happen after one SUV rear-ended the other.
The northbound express lanes were closed and traffic was diverted onto the Parkway's local lanes. They reopened just after 11 a.m.
