The National Retail Federation says there could be a shortage of school supplies because of the pandemic.
Even though the school bell won't ring for a few more weeks, it may be time to start stocking up on school supplies now.
National Retail Federation's Katherine Cullen explains, "What we are hearing form retailers is inventory may be a little tighter, so supply just might be lower than people might expect. Maybe instead of being able to easily find a shelf stocked with everything you're looking for; you may have to hunt around a little or you may only be able to buy two of something rather than five. "
She says prices on some supplies could also go up because there are supply chain issues across the world that are delaying shipments and creating rising costs and lower inventory.
Experts are encouraging parents and consumers to plan ahead and not wait until the last minute.
There are still some deals out there on school supplies, especially for teachers.
