A man who slammed a moped into the side of an NYPD vehicle, causing a fiery explosion, is facing nine charges for the incident.
Police say the 34-year-old suspect was being pursued by police following a Shot Spotter notification.
It was believed that the suspect had a gun, and nearby officers were able to block his vehicle after hearing reports of the chase on their radios.
The officers inside of the vehicle were taken to North Shore University Hospital Manhasset, where they were treated for pain and released.
The suspect sustained minor injuries, and is facing charges including reckless driving, and operating a motorcycle without plates, a license or an inspection.
