A New Jersey musician will perform a concert this weekend using a guitar made out of wood from a 600-year-old tree.
The wood came from an oak tree in Basking Ridge, which stood at the Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church for centuries. Various items, including the electric guitar, were created using the wood from the tree.
Musician Alan Grant will perform at the annual Basking Ridge Charter Day celebration using this guitar.
“You think about the historical connection to this guitar and every time I look at it, I literally get goosebumps. It’s amazing,” Grant says.
The concert begins at 4 p.m. Saturday.
