WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Travel volume this holiday is expected to be at an all-time high. Airports are still trying to get the overflow from the government shut down back on track. Now the weather forecast is looking wet and windy, and that will certainly slow things down dramatically for travelers looking to get away for the holiday.
Milder air is ahead of the next weather system. Temperatures will be warming up on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The center of the storm stays well west of New Jersey, but waves of rain and possible thunderstorms (Tuesday night into Wednesday morning) will meander across the state.
It's possible the state could collect a beneficial half an inch to three-quarters of an inch of rain.
While this would be a good scenario any other time of day of the month, the storm is coinciding with the biggest travel push of the year. Disruptions will be numerous not only at the airports but also on the roads as well.
Tuesday and Wednesday are looking milder and wetter ahead of and as the storm passes thru. Once it does, the winds will crank up and change directions and the temperatures will take a sudden plunge for Thanksgiving.
The winds will be the biggest weather concern for Thursday and Friday. The wind forecast stays below the wind threshold for the Macy's Thanksgiving parade balloons to fly but it will be close.
