The Morristown High School girl’s lacrosse team may have had their season canceled for the year – but they are still earning admiration from the community.
The seniors on the team came up with the idea for a community food drive and rallied the rest of the team to spread the word on social media.
"It was just really weird to think about that my lacrosse career is over but honestly it was nice because we stayed in touch with the team and we were emailing and texting a lot,” says senior Ava Plott.
The girls were able to get enough items to fill 11 cars with food donated by the community. The players say that it was a good bonding experience.
"I think we wanted to use that time that we would have been together and playing to still be together and use the time to help the community instead,” says senior Sarah Chupak.

The underclassmen and community members thanked the seniors by organizing a car parade for each of them.
"Personally, I was really surprised at how many people were part of the parade because all the underclassmen can't drive so it's like their parents had to drive them too,” says senior Katie Baskin.
The girls say that they hope that their story motivates others to give back to the community even after the pandemic crisis ends.
