More than 100 firefighters braved a major nor’easter to battle a fire in Monmouth County.
The fire started in a mixed-use building on Broad Street in Manasquan on Monday afternoon. The building’s owner tells News 12 that three people lived on the upper floors of the building and that they were able to escape.
Two of the residents, along with a firefighter were taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
Officials say that the fire knocked out power to the block for several hours. A warming center was set up for those residents who were without heat for a time.
Firefighters were forced to fight the blaze during a major snowstorm in New Jersey that is expected to drop more than 2 feet of snow in some areas of the state.
The fire was brought under control by Monday evening.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
